Vanessa Dawn Rogers is what happens when tradition gets a wild hair.

Rooted in the old hymns of the back pew and raised on the grit of backwoods bonfires, she’s a country soul with a rebel heart — equal parts outlaw and altar call. Imagine if Dolly Parton and Steven Tyler had a lovechild, taught her to write songs in a church pew, then let her run barefoot through rock bars and bluegrass festivals.

With tradition in one hand and fire in the other, her sound is raw, soulful, and genre-bending — blending the storytelling of classic country with the swagger of rock and the soul of something much deeper. It's country, but make it sideways — unapologetically honest, sometimes sweet, sometimes savage, always real.

Vanessa isn’t here to fit in. She’s here to write what hurts, sing what heals, and light a fire in anyone who's ever felt like an outsider with something holy burning inside.

An educated artist, Vanessa earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees before following her heart to Nashville, where she got her start at the iconic Tootsie’s on Broadway. She played daily on Broadway in Nashville at all the most famous bars: Kid Rock's, Tootsie's, Rippy's, and Honky Tonk Central.

 

Throughout her career, she has lit up stages across the United States — from Kid Rock’s Honky Tonk in Nashville to The Roxy in Hollywood. Her high-energy yet laid-back performances and powerhouse vocals have landed her opening slots for stars like Jamey Johnson, Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Terri Clark, and Tracy Lawrence. She’s also shared the stage with many rising stars like Tara Thompson, Caylee Hammack, Royale Lynn, Cooper Alan, and Naomi Cook.

 

For the last few years, Vanessa has been playing weekly shows in the Florida panhandle, recording demos for Nashville songwriters, and performing in Nashville whenever possible. Her beloved father Terry was recently diagnosed with small cell lung cancer, which has brought Vanessa back to middle Tennessee for the time being so she can spend time with him.

 

She continues to write, perform, and record music because music is not just a hobby or a job - it is her life. Music is not just how she pays the bills - it is how she processes her emotions and relieves stress. It is not just her passion - it is her calling. And she intends to pursue her calling for as long as she has breath in her lungs.
